Sinterklaas

Different countries have different tradititions. Everybody knows that Santa Claus comes around Christmas. Less people know that Santa was brought to the United States by Dutch immigrants and originates from the name Sinterklaas.

Sinterklaas arrives half November in The Netherlands by steam boat, from Spain (although the Bishop of Myra, which he in fact resembles originates from Turkey...), together with his assistants the Black Peters and on 5 December, he delivers presents to all the children (and adults) in The Netherlands. Between half November and 5 December, children can put their shoe in front of the open fire place or central heating (or any other convenient place), sing a song, go to bed and the next morning they will find a present in their shoe, which was brought to them by Sinterklaas and his Peters, while driving on the roofs on his white horse...

Lorena received some presents from Sinterklaas through Opa and Oma in The Netherlands.

Yes, some children are lucky enough to have it all. Being half Dutch she will enjoy the benefits of Sinterklaas, because by being in Austria she will also Nikolo (similar to Sinterklaas, but a bit different and who celebrates a similar party on 6 December) and yes, Santa Claus also passes by every year around Christmas...

For the rest not much new. It is cold these days. But some are lucky enough to be able to sit in a chair being transported around, like a princess, and not feeling the cold wind...
