First Flight

Last year, when Lorena was less than 4 months old, traveling was easy. We put her in the car seat and most of the time she was sleeping. Afterwards this changed significantly. Traveling became a disaster, since Lorena really started to hate the "Maxi Cosi" car seat [see also "Holidays in Crikvenica (Croatia)" (when she was still fine) and "Domestic Travel"].

We decided then not to travel for a veeery long time. Recently however, she became a little girl and things start to become much easier. So we decided to do a family visit in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

As part of Lorena's "I love Airplanes Programme" (initiated by daddy) dad showed the airplanes, as can be seen underneath.

Nevertheless, Lorena seemed not to be really impressed by them yet. But that will come. It is just a matter of being persistent...

The real fun started at the Security Check. That had been relatively easy in the past, before Lorena. Now, with all the luggage and a trolley on top of the limitations on taking baby food, water and other items in the hand luggage it became a bit more challenging...

Patricia needed to collect her personal belongings from the belt, after they went through the X-Ray. She put Lorena on it too, to have her hands free. That appeared to be a great new game. Mum discovered that little girls can also roll back and forth on the rollers... Lorena thought that this was really funny. Also the security staff thought it was hilareous and shortly, processing people through the check was "on hold"...

In the plane, people were of course very interesting. Here we can see cabin staff explaining how to handle all these interesting new toys...

It was difficult to make her sit still, but that is simply a fact with little girls. In all fairness, Lorena was great during her first flight and daddy was of course very proud of his little girl.

Visiting Amsterdam was a great experience too, but more about that on the next page to follow.
