Maribor 14 June 2008

Maribor's Airshow seemed promising from the announcements, with interesting participants. Unfortunately, one cannot control the weather. The day started fine with sunshine, but became worse during the day and before the end of the show I had left, due to the rain with a completely grey sky with zero hope for improvement... The show was for 2 days. The sescond day had, apparently, better weather. However, that day I was unable to pay a visit.

The show started with many balloons departing from fields in the neighbourhood...

In some of the hangars, interesting aircraft could be found, such as this Yugoslav-built UTVA 66

The PC-6 Turbo Porter, probably not the most beautiful aircraft in the world, guarantees an amazing show, demonstrating its capabilities as, for example, being capable to land within a few metres, one of the qualities for a successful sale... Here, an example of the Slovenian Air Force.

A Bell 412 of the Slovenian Air Force

Another PC-6, this time of the Austrian Air Force.

A Mi. 24 of the Hungarian Air Force in interesting colours...

Two oldies in formation; an AT-6 Texan and L-29 Delfin...

A Bell 206 of the Slovenian Air Force

The Italian Air Force sent a Piaggio P180 Avanti

Famous in the regional airshow circuit, the Aero-3

A Mi-17 did an exercise involving water...

A pair of UTVA-75s

A Swiss-registered Pilatus PC-3

Cougar of the Slovenes

The French Air Force came with a Fennec

A "no idea what it is" EDA V, but it definitely looks interesting...

An Aviano-based American F-16 passed by with a colleague

Also this Slovenia-registered Extra 300 is famous in the region for spectacular flying...

Italy also sent 2 Eurofighters...

Last but not least, the Red Bull B-25 Mitchel is always welcome at any show...
